The blurb

The United Nations decree the imminent end of the British Mandate and the partition of Palestine.

Although the British are nominally in charge for the next few months they are no longer in control of the situation and soon Jerusalem is in a state of open warfare. The Jewish agency summon Dalia to the capital to teach firearm skills to Jewish Youth.

Maftur Said, expecting her first child, leaves the city centre to live in a peaceful Arab village on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Addy Shepard, teaching at an Anglican School for Girls, lives behind barbed wire at home.

As anarchy rules all three women are caught up in the mounting violence.
