The Land of the Kings

cyclamen growing on the tombs. The great thing about the Land of the kings Apartments is that they are immediately opposite the tombs of the so called kings (really Greek and Roman governors). In January one could walk over there with a book, shell out the small entrance fee and then read in solitude among the cyclamen hanging over the excavated tombs.

The awful thing about the Apartments is the third so-called bed. The apartments are rented on the basis of three sharing which would imply that they were set up to accommodate three people, but each compartment consists only of a single room with the third so called bed an uncomfortable sofa. I couldn't walk by the third morning, the sofa was so crippling Luckily I was able to hire another room to myself, but if I had been on a tight budget that would have upset me.

heated pool Apart from that awful third bed the apartments had a lot to recommend them. There was a heated outdoor pool, a decent snack bar and restaurant plus plenty of reasonable tavernas within walking distance. The nearest beach was quite close. The bus to town and the market stopped by the entrance.
