A few of us went for a walk to The Gethsemane Mount of Olives, which was close to Jerusalem. There were many churches in this area; one in particular had a very large mosaic mural depicting a scene from the Last Supper. The mural was over the door and ran across the full width of the church. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, all the churches were closed. Perhaps they heard we were coming to visit.

The hillside was proliferated with olive trees, hence the name. Some of these were thousands of years old and while they did not grow very tall their age was reflected in their gnarled twisted look.

Returning to the city we passed the Wailing Wall. This wall was part of the western wall of the old city and was held in great deference by the Jews, some of whom were swaying as they prayed close to it. They also pressed written prayers and requests into the wall crevices.
